9M79 Tochka series
A series of Soviet-designed, short-range ballistic missiles which form part of the OTR-21 Tochka system (with the NATO reporting name ‘SS-21 Scarab). Fired from mobile launchers, the missiles come in a number of variants including Tochka and Tochka-U, with respective maximum effective ranges of 70 km and 120 km. The munitions have an inertial navigation system for basic guidance and can deploy a range of warheads, including cluster munition and unitary high explosive (blast) types. The systems are also nuclear-capable. They have seen extensive use in conflicts such as the 2008 Georgia War, Yemeni Civil War, Syrian Civil War, and the war in Ukraine.
